Does someone have the connection diagrams for an Audi MIB2 main unit (quadlock) and control panel (2x10pin connector)?
I would like to make cables to do benchtesting on a spare A6 4G MIB2 unit..

Does someone know if the 8" MMI 3GP display (4G0919605) is compatible with the 8" MIB2 display (4G5919607) ?

(Can i buy the old display to bench test a MIB unit ?)

Hi Scrat,
no the MMI Displays are not compatible to the MIB series. I use for both (MIB1 & MIB2) the Audi A3 Display Unit PN: 8V0 857 273 J for the whole Mudule with cabinet motor frame.
The PN for the Display itself is 8V0 919 604 A.
The reason is, that the MIB units using local CAN commands between main unit and display module.

Thank you for your reply. So if i understand correctly the A3 display will work with an A6 MIB2 ?

Yes it will work fine. I do all the MIB stuff on my desk with this display unit.

It works with the VW Discover Pro and Skoda units too.

MIB2 A6 display will work on:
MIB1 A3
MIB2 A6/A7
MIB2 Delphi A4

It will not work on
MIB2 A4 Harman and i think all 8" HARMAN MIB2

There should be a way to make it work though.

I have just finished my wire loom to benchtest a spare mib2 unit. Thank you all for you help !

However, after connecting screen, keypad and test unit and powering them up, not a lot happens :)

is a gateway required to allow the screen tilt mechanism to open ?

I've connected a serial terminal, but i'm not sure what is wrong with my unit...
It looks like it is shutting down right after completing startup ?

There is an internal CAN between Main unit, Panel and Display... do you wire it?
The command to switch on comes via this CAN to the Display unit. Same as 8V0 (A3) units do...

No need for gateway.
Check the can communication between the main unit and kbd/display.
If the can wires are reversed it will not work :)
My unit did the same shutdown when i didn't had kbd and display connected.
Worth checking the communication, plus the pin numbering in ELSA for the the back 12 pin connectors are wrong.
In elsa they are
1 2 3 4 5 6
12 11 10 9 8 7

But in reality they are
1 2 3 4 5 6
7 8 9 10 11 12

Display and KBD can are 1,7 (they are the inner most pins)
unit can is 6,12 (the outer most pins)

Ah, so the left one is correct, and the right one is wrong ?
I've wired it like in the right picture.

I was just about to connect a scope and an analyzer to the display can bus wires :)

For test just try Display can 1,7 (the inner most pins)
You will have to rewire the KBD too.
All MIB's use this wiring :)

@congo: You were right. :)
I've reversed the wire order and now the lights come on and the display flips open!

The screen itself however still doesn't turn on.. I've tried switching display can high/low, but that doesn't help.

I then suspected that the hsd fakra cable was wired differently from the other hsd cables, and
I've made a new one based on the wiring diagrams, but that doesn't work either.
Time for the analyzer.

LVDS cable wiring diagram is correct in Elsa.
just watch out for the numbering on of the pins..... i have them somewhere but have to look for.

Found the problem.
CAN analysis during startup showed that the display was not replying.
I've removed the display cover to take a look and discovered that the seller sold me the wrong display (4G1919605, 3GP display) instead of the advertised mib model (4G5919607).

Edit: For those who might find it useful, there IS a sticker with the model number, but it's on the inside.

Oh crap, that's bad :(
MMI display wont work with MIB, that's why you don't see anything on it :(
Try to open a case if it's on eBay.

The extra 4 pins for Ground, VCC and CAN of the enhanced LVDS connector must be correct. See above result.

Problem was solfed! There was a wrong pinout used at the LVDS Adapter from Audi spare parts!

Yes, of course! The inter-Component wiring ist shown on ErWin online... It´s all known...

Hi there,

I have an engineering background but I am kinda new for Automotive Multimedia systems. I need a help with setting up a MIB2 on desk and just reading the central unit status and communication. I got the following H/W:

MIB2 Harman (4G1 035 025 D)
Display (4G1919601R)
Display-MIB2 Cable (8V1971551C),

- What are H/W parts I am still missing?
- Do I need the MMI Touch Pad?
- What is the wiring should be done?
- What software can I use to monitor the communication of the MIB2 unit? How I connect the setup to a PC?
- Is there any thread in English I can read through?

Ok. It is working. However Bluetooth and Wlan are off, it needs the igniation on.

How I can make the mib2 to think that ignation is on. Is there a CAN message I can send.

Guys, are the pin outs for the serial connection on the MIB2 motherboard the same as those for the MMI3G+ as described in the "how to recover a dead MMI 3G"? Just screwed my IFS-ROOT.IFS and want to know whether I can get into IPL mode (using procedure in MMI3G+) with the MIB2 on my desk with 12V, serial connection and using the SD card update to re-flash the correct ifs-root.ifs?

RxD - top pin 5
TxD - bottom pin 5
Ground - bottom - pin 10

What is the baud rate? 115200/8/1/none/XON.XOFF


I don't have a bench test setup so am trying to recover via serial connection...

Is there an equivalent "slay" command to stop the MIB2 from shutting down after 60 seconds?

nope. too hard. all the controls are CAN bus controlled so existing ones wouldn't work...

also screen resolutions different and LVDS cables used to connect to screen etc.. etc.. Lots of things would need replacing that most probably wouldn't fit into the spaces of your exisitng MMI 3G plus equipment.

Hello colleagues, can anyone help?
I connected the harman mib2 audi a6 4g1035043d unit, the panel also with the audi a6 4g2919610g.
The panel is attached: can mib 15 to 7, 16 to 1, 6 to 8, 13 to 9, 14 to 2. Of course, the power supply to the panel under 7 and ground to 8. Display not with audi only touchscreen with VW B8.
There is this effect: when I connect without the panel, it starts up nicely, but I have no control, but when I connect to the panel, the unit loads into the audi logo and restart spontaneously.
What could be the problem?

Hey,

Anyone has connected the USB and Touchpanel to the MIB wiring on bench... With touch panel I see there is a problem and with the plain USB port with number 5Q0035726 I'm not sure. Which USB ports work with D-Link?
